Join us for an engaging and informative webinar designed to deepen your understanding of advance care planning and its critical role in promoting self-advocacy and self-determination. This session will provide social workers with the tools and knowledge needed to support both their clients and themselves in navigating healthcare decision-making.

Key topics covered will include:

History and Context: Explore the history of healthcare decision-making, landmark cases, and the foundations of advance care planning.

Ohio-Specific Guidance: Learn about Ohio's decision-making hierarchy, including the roles of living wills, healthcare power of attorney, and guardianship, with step-by-step guidance on completing these essential documents.

Self-Care and Advocacy: Understand how advance care planning can serve as a self-care tool for social workers while empowering clients to advocate for their preferences and values.

The session will conclude with a 5-minute Q&A to address your questions. By the end, participants will be equipped to complete their own advance care plans and facilitate opportunities for their clients to do the same.

Dawn works as a hospice educator providing education to hospice staff as well as the community to further the knowledge of end of life topics. Dawn also teaches part time in the social work department at The University of Toledo.
