July 30, 6:30-8pm

Social workers are critical to our community. They connect people at their most vulnerable points to resources and systems that they need. Education is one of those resources that are critical for the advancement of our community.

Dr. N. J. Akbar, Vice President of Akron Board of Education and equity expert will lead a discussion on the district’s recent racism resolution and commitment to racial equity within the district. This discussion will operationalize equity and acknowledge the existence of racism within our systems. Dr. Akbar will share his support policy changes that will eradicate racism and the role our organization could potentially better support our PACE endorsed candidates long-term beyond the endorsement process to the mutual benefit of relationship building, advocacy and community engagement through building stronger relationships with policy makers.
