Social Security Disability Claims: What Social Workers Need to Know

Social Security disability attorneys will talk about how social workers can help claimants throughout disability claims. The presentation will cover how to identify potentially meritorious claimants, how to start applications, and how to support claimants during the process. While the presentation will briefly summarize the disability programs—most notably, Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income—the presentation will focus on ways to expedite claims and improve the chances of approval.

Zachary P. Lutz is the managing attorney at Donoff & Lutz, LLC, a law firm in Dayton, Ohio that only represents Social Security disability claimants. He first joined the firm when he was fourteen, as a file clerk. After working at a national trial litigation firm, he returned to Donoff & Lutz, LLC as an attorney. He worked for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He graduated with honors from both Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

Rebecca R. Fate is an attorney at Donoff & Lutz, LLC, a law firm in Dayton, Ohio that only represents Social Security disability claimants. She leads the firm’s federal court practice, and she has a significant practice representing disabled children. Since Rebecca joined Donoff & Lutz, LLC, the firm has not lost a case in federal court. Rebecca was the valedictorian at the Honors College of University of Central Florida, and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School.
