NASW Ohio's Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) Committee is the political action arm of the NASW. As a political action committee, PACE endorses and financially contributes to state and local candidates from any party who support NASW's policy agenda.
Help us financially support candidates who align with social work values, ethics, and advocacy priorities!

*Citizenship Requirement
In 2024, the Ohio General Assembly passed Sub H.B. 1, a law that prohibits our association from knowingly using funds from “foreign nationals” in our endorsement of candidates or ballot issues. NASW Ohio opposes this new law. We value the diversity of thought that immigrants, citizen and non-citizen, bring to our association, including our PAC. However, as a result of this law, we have had to update our donation process to include an attestation of citizenship.
If you are a member of NASW Ohio, but not a U.S. citizen, and are interested in participating in the PACE Committee in other ways, like through committee membership, please reach out to NASW Ohio at info.naswoh@socialworkers.org to discuss further. We would love to have you involved, but are still trying to understand fully the implications of Sub H.B. 1.
If your financial contribution could be prohibited by this new law (i.e. could be considered from a ‘foreign national’), there are still many other ways to support NASW Ohio’s advocacy work, like through your ongoing membership and attending our event.
Volunteer with PACE
- Elections make a difference. Elected officials create and pass policies that effect our clients and our profession. This happens on all levels, including Congress, state legislatures, county offices, city councils and school boards.
- Social workers can have an impact on candidates with our individual votes and with our collective endorsement through PACE.
- Volunteering on PACE is great experience for social workers. On behalf of NASW Ohio, committee members build crucial relationships with candidates and elected officials.
- Volunteering with PACE can be a large or small time commitment. Volunteers can hold fundraisers, outreach and interview candidates, inform endorsement decisions and help recruit others to PACE.
