Whitney M. Young Jr. Conference Scholarship

Named after social work hero and civil rights activist, Whitney M. Young Jr., this scholarship will provide free registration for the NASW Ohio 2020 Annual Conference to a limited number of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) social workers and social work students. In nearly every occupation BIPOC men and women earn less than their white counterparts. Even in female dominated fields like social work Black women, for example, are paid less than white, non-Hispanic males.

Individuals and organizations can contributing to this fund in support of our BIPOC members and colleagues during this difficult time brought on by COVID-19, which has disproportionately affected BIPOC communities. You can add on a donation with your conference registration or conference sponsorship or contact hware.naswoh@socialworkers.org to contribute independently.

To apply to receive a conference scholarship please fill out the form below. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis to BIPOC individuals as funds become available.

Individual and organizations who choose to donate $50 or more to the Whitney M. Young Jr. Scholarship Fund will have their name listed as a donor on the conference webpage and program and receive recognition during Thursday’s keynote welcome address.
