NASW Ohio Chapter, Region 5 hosts a regional meeting on the second Monday of every month. There will be time for networking from 5:30-6 and a one-hour CEU from 6-7 p.m.

 

About the Workshop:

“Mindfulness: Practicing Calm as Self-Care”

We can't force ourselves to calm down, but we can get better at calming down with practice. Learn how to savor rest even when you’re busy and stop making stressful times even worse. Discover practical ways to navigate work pressures, family drama, and the challenges of ordinary life.

Objectives
• Explore different levels of alertness and how to shift between them
• Define science-based attention skills that can be developed through practice
• Try an exercise that develops focus and decreases internal resistance that can be used to recharge or to set the stage for better sleep


Mindfulness coach Daron Larson has a no-nonsense, doable approach to mindfulness. He says that while physical exercise strengthens the body, mindfulness-type exercises strengthen our attention. Discover how training your attention – with or without meditation – can develop capacities for relating more effectively to the challenges of daily living
