Time: Registration: 8:00 am Conference begins promptly at 8:30 am

Location: BMI Federal Credit Union, 6165 Emerald Parkway, Dublin OH 43016

In this workshop Dr. Robin will provide the audience with a practical, “nuts and bolts” approach to understanding, assessing, and treating oppositional behavior problems in adolescents. With the liberal use of case examples, he will present the four-factor model of defiant behavior and review the use of interviews and rating scales for assessing family interaction and making differential diagnoses. Then, he will detail the steps of the “Defiant Teen” intervention. Lecture, case examples, and discussion will be augmented with live role plays spontaneously involving audience members to illustrate therapeutic techniques. After providing a clear-cut way to understand and cope with resistance to treatment, Dr. Robin will end with a discussion of common treatments for AD/HD, Mood Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders that often co-occur with ODD. School-based interventions will be included.

Defiant Teens is designed for social workers, counselors, psychologists, nurses, teachers and other healthcare professionals. The curriculum is relevant for intermediate and advanced-level clinicians.
