Educational Debt Relief

Educational debt is one of the greatest concerns facing the profession of Social Work and is posing problems to a profession already facing challenges.

  • High educational debt deters students from entering the profession of Social Work and consequently aggravates the workforce shortages the profession is already facing.

  • High student debt and low salaries for professionals make public service careers less desirable, which makes it more difficult to recruit new social workers.

NASW Ohio feels strongly that the state of Ohio should create an educational debt relief program to assist our states social workers.  This plan would not only benefit the social workers whom utilize it, but would also indirectly benefit the individuals, families, and communities that we serve.  This plan would be valuable to our society as a whole and would serve as a way to help revitalize our economy.
