In celebration of Social Work Month, each March NASW Ohio Chapter offers weekly free online CEUs, coordinates Advocacy Day, co-sponsors the Cuyahoga County Conference on Social Welfare, plans six regional conferences called The "Brainy" Practitioner, and hosts a social event to recognize long-standing NASW members. In addition to these annual activities...

2017: NASW Ohio Chapter threw our first party for social work - the  Social Work Month Celebration Gala. The 200+ guests left inspired by the profession, rejuvenated by the setting, and just a tad sweaty from dancing! Plus, guests heard from Senator Nina Turner, who emceed the event. Thanks to Governor John Kasich who affirmed March as Social Work Month.

2016: NASW Ohio Chapter released an animated video celebrating social workers and screened Can You Dig This, an empowering film that follows the urban gardening movement taking root in Southern LA. Thanks to the following City Councils who affirmed March as Social Work Month: Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus.

2015: NASW Ohio Chapter collected stories of how social workers have impacted their communities. Thanks to the following mayors who affirmed March as Social Work Month: William Healy II of Canton, Jack Everson of Chillicothe, John Cranley of Cincinnati, Michael Coleman of Columbus, Nan Whaley of Dayton, John McNally of Youngstown, and Jeff Tilton of Zanesville.

2014: NASW Ohio Chapter hosted a Social Work Spotlight Day to encourage social workers to raise awareness of our profession. We hosted a fundraiser at a local restaurant and three free online CEU presentations; released an improved Legislative Action Center to better engage social workers in our advocacy work and new resources for social workers working in direct practice settings.

2013: NASW Ohio Chapter organized our first student activist training, annual Advocacy Day, 11 regional activities, a 3-hour ethics and 3-hour supervision workshop, and a licensure review course; co-sponsored the Cuyahoga County Conference on Social Welfare; and presented an additional online CEU presentation.

2012: To celebrate Social Work Month, NASW members and supporters submitted articles about A Day in the Life of a Social Worker. NASW Ohio Chapter also released a new professional development series, Wake Up to Social Work, offering members free one-hour continuing education opportunities at 10:00 AM on the second Wednesday of each month.
